Seven years, two dogs, and one very ordinary walk that turned out to be anything but.
Kate and Ethan first met at a UT Spikeball practice. What started as a friendship within the same group slowly turned into something neither of them quite saw coming.
Group movie nights at Ethan’s condo became a regular thing, until eventually the group got smaller and smaller — and somehow, it was just the two of them. Movie nights turned into late nights spent talking, laughing, and finding excuses to keep hanging out a little longer.
They had both realized that what they had was more than friendship, and the two officially started dating. For their first date they kept things simple: they ordered 24 Diner and ate dinner on the floor of Ethan’s condo — really good food, hours of talking, and the kind of night where neither of them felt like they needed to be anywhere else.
Ethan proposed during what seemed like a normal walk through the neighborhood with their dogs. He led Kate down the familiar trail to a little spot by the water they had visited countless times before — only this time, waiting there was a blanket and two canvases. She noticed a photographer nearby, and that was the moment she realized this wasn’t just another walk.
Chief among the witnesses that day. They have been there for every part of this story, and they will be thinking of you from home on the day itself.
Some of their favorite moments have always been the simple ones.
